Central Maine Medical Center

The system includes two additional hospitals—Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital—along with Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. CMMC houses several regional specialty programs including the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, and the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center. In February 2026, Central Maine Healthcare officially joined Prime Healthcare Foundation, a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity, expanding the Foundation to 21 hospitals nationwide. This transition represents a significant organizational change that may affect workplace dynamics, benefits, and culture for nursing staff. Nursing roles at CMMC include positions in critical care areas such as the Intensive Care Unit, with full-time night shifts on a 12-hour schedule with weekend rotation. The RN role involves direct patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation within scope of practice.
