Who they are
The Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a community-based nonprofit organization incorporated in 1997, located on Chicago's South Side in the Chicago Lawn and Englewood neighborhoods, with an additional office in Atlanta opened in 2016.
IMAN fosters health, wellness, and healing in inner-city communities by organizing for social change, cultivating the arts, and operating a holistic health center that provides medical and behavioral health care. The organization is deeply invested in social issues affecting communities of color and provides transitional jobs and housing support to formerly incarcerated individuals. For nursing professionals, IMAN offers an outpatient clinic environment where nurses engage in direct patient care including medication and vaccine administration, basic office procedures (e.g., Depo shots, wound care, ear irrigations), patient education on chronic disease management, and telephone or in-person triage. The role involves collaboration with healthcare providers and a multidisciplinary team, providing both physical and psychological support to patients and their care support systems. The nurse is expected to follow standards of care set by the state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
