Who they are
One Brooklyn Health (OBH) is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt healthcare system established in 2016 to enhance healthcare services in Central Brooklyn communities.
OBH is the NYS Department of Health-approved co-operator of three historically significant medical centers: Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, Interfaith Medical Center, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. The system was formed to preserve and enhance access to healthcare by merging these separate hospitals and their affiliates into a sustainable, quality integrated health system. In 2018, OBH was awarded $664 million in capital funding through the NYS Department of Health's Health Care Facilities Transformation Program, representing a major investment in the future of healthcare delivery in Brooklyn. For nursing professionals, OBH offers employment opportunities across its three medical center campuses in Brooklyn. The system emphasizes career development, communication of organizational information to staff, and ensuring employees have the necessary authority and latitude to perform their roles. The organization maintains a formal Code of Ethics and Conduct covering patient care standards, compliance, non-discrimination, health and safety, and professionalism. In September 2025, OBH released a new tagline across all three hospitals, indicating ongoing cultural and branding development within the system.
OBH's mission is to preserve and enhance access to healthcare services in Central Brooklyn by building a sustainable, quality integrated health system from three historically community-rooted hospitals. The organization's Code of Ethics and Conduct emphasizes high quality patient care, patient information protection, compliance with government regulations, non-discrimination and equal employment opportunity, leadership and professionalism, health and safety, and responsible use of social media. The system is committed to its colleagues through career development, conflict of interest policies, and workplace safety standards.
