Registered Nurse Surgery

Registered Nurse who provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in clinic with a focus on surgical procedures. Under the clinical supervision of a licensed medical provider; assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of Physician by performing the following duties: Interviews patients, takes patients' history, and records all information on patients' charts. Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient. Prepares patient(s) for physical exam/surgery. Assists provider(s) as needed with patient care, including physical exam/surgery. Sets up examination rooms and surgical suite(s) for appropriate procedures. Dresses wounds as instructed by provider. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions. Assists physician with surgical procedure while maintaining sterile field. Initiates patient education plan. Maintains examination and surgical suite(s), cleans rooms, sterilizes equipment.
